  • Swindon keep up their promotion push

    Swindon 4 - 1 Stockport
    Ward 4'           Tansey 45+3'
    Paynter 45'
    Ferry 74'
    Paynter 79'

Swindon kept up their promotion hopes with an easy win over bottom club Stockport. The Robins took an early lead when Danny Ward’s well placed shot from the edge of the area sailed past Stockport keeper Owain Fon Williams.

Billy Paynter took advantage of a slip by Williams to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half time but sloppy defending allowed Stockport back into the match in first-half stoppage-time through a Greg Tansey free-kick.

Swindon started the second half defensively and for a while Stockport looked liked they may equalise until a header from Simon Ferry after 74 minutes finished the match as a contest. The win was rounded off 5 minutes later when Paynter got his second from 20 yards out.
