Aston Villa advanced to the quarter finals of the Eon sponsored FA Cup after a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace. Villa were made to work hard for their win by a Crystal Palace team who recently went into administration.
The opening goal was scored from the head of Gabby Agbonlahor from a corner just before half time. The goal was unlucky on Palace as TV replays suggested that the corner was wrongly given and should have been a goal kick. Palace staged a spirited fight back in the second half and deservedly equalised from the spot after 73 mins before Villa upped their game and were awarded two penalties which were both won and scored by John Carew.
